Mr. Doyle of Pennsylvania here is speaking to the House Subcommittee of telecommunications and the internet about the musical "Girl Talk" AKA Greg Gillis.
Greg Gillis is a DJ who has released several albums under the alias of "Girl Talk" where every song on these 13+ track albums are mashups of over a dozen different popular copyrighted songs.
A mashup is when you set the tempo of 2 or more already existing songs and create a different song out of them.
Girl Talk has never been authorized by any of the original creators of the musical pieces he uses and therefore has been described by the New York Times as "a lawsuit waiting to happen."
Girl Talk has also presented his entire latest album on his website for purchase at which the listener can name their own price for (I downloaded it for $0.00).
This is a music video made to Girl Talk's "Here's The Thing" where he samples from 22 artists.
