Kevin's Final Project
I think what i learned the most in this class is too appreciate paintings and drawn art. I've always been a fan of music but i started to realize that alot of paintings and drawings are really cool. I understand art to anything created to stimulate your senses. I would consider a smooth piece of silk, even if it was created by a machine.
What i know about art(Anthony Irozuru)
I have learnt that art is not just about paintings and drawings, it is a way of life, the inner most expressions of ourselves. I have come to learn that art comes in different forms shapes and sizes and have now realized that art is everywhere and is shown down to the small things like the way our cell phones are, the way we dress and even the way food is presented when we go out to eat. I have been challenged to explore my artistic side and to view life with an artistic eye because I have now realized that there are limitless boundaries when it comes the expression of art.
Taylor's final post
The main piece of knowledge i have taken away from this course is that art the the surperior form of expression. One can put his or her heart and soul onto any form of media from a song to a painting and be able to share the emotions they were feeling at the time of creating with the world. Art is a major part of a fuctioning society and will remain a passion of mine throughout my journey on the planet.
What I learned in Art
During my stay here in Introduction to Art I've picked up a few different views and opinions about art as a whole. I am Business Major so I don't devote too much time into art, but it is an interest to me, so I am very pleased at what stuck with me after this semester in this class.
Some things that intrigued me about art is the fact that art can take the shape of many different forms such as; performing musically, and photography. Also the art of light shows at concerts is considered an art form which enhances performances on a visual level. I've learned in this class that art is everywhere and around every corner. You can always see art of the human struggle, celebration, remorse, and the contact between other humans in almost every environment you are in. My art knowledge has enhanced since I've been in this class, because of the way or professor has challenged us to find art everywhere we go. This class has been very informative, although not related to my field of study, it still left me with information I will keep forever.

We Know What Art Is (Patrick Laughlin)
Art to me has really changed from when the year began. I started the year originally enjoying high renaissance works of Da Vinci, Michelangelo, ect and superrealistic works from those like Chuck Close. It wasn't until now that i understand that Art is not just merely making an image as realistic as possible. Art for me now really encompasses so much more than i originally thought of and while i still do believe personally that Art needs to express some sort of an emotion or story, it can be done in alot more different ways. I dont think i really particularly like Dadaism, Cubism, Pop Art or many of the other contemporary works, but i can atleast appreciate them and understand what they mean to art.
For myself, this class has helped me in my other classes because it has made my understanding of the subject i am majoring in more clear. I personally believe that too much of the art program at this school (as well as other schools) focus entirely too much on the actual producing of art and learning the craft, which gives the students the wrong impression of thinking that they need to work work work in order to get better at whatever art they are pursuing. I could not disagree more with this philosophy, i think that in order to grow as an artist that it is quite possibly one of the most important things that you can do by just stopping and taking time out to read, write and discuss. By discussing art frequently in this class it really opens up ideas and understanding of my art. As a growing graphic designer I try to read books dealing with my craft, as well as biographies of my favorite artists like Van Gogh, Michelangelo, Chuck Close, reading interviews and ect. I try to write in a journal frequently about my thoughts and ideas rather than hastly trying to make them. This Class taught me that spending more time reading and discussing with my peers is far more important to growing as an artist than actually creating work is.

Where do the ideas for your work generally come from? Nature pretty much, and people who are more naturalist. Anything natural and pure.
Who influences do you have? India Arie, what she wears, she wants to design stuff like that and she also painted her guitar a certain way that inspired me to do the same for my own guitar.
What do you usually participate in to bring about creative ideas? Usually when I am listening to music or outside thinking and listening.
Does any of your work really have any kind of meaning right now? Not really, most of my work doesn't focus too much on telling any kind of a story.
Out of all the different mediums of art you work in, what do you enjoy doing the most currently? Crocheting, i've been doing it since i was nine so its very therapeutic.
Why do you enjoy doing what you do? Because it makes me proud when i see someone enjoy what i am doing, to create beauty.
Do you create things usually with yourself in mind or the viewer? its a personal image but more like crocheting i try to create things that i would like to wear, but i know that other people dont really like what i would enjoy wearing so i think that its important to make things with the viewer in mind as well
Did you have a creatively stimulating environment as a child? everyone in my family is apart of art, my dad painted alot when he was younger, my mom was an art major, my sister paints frequently and draws, and my brother went to SCAD as a graphic design major, so yes...i had a very artistically nurturing environment growing up as a child.
When considering the process of creativity where you have things like coming up with ideas, evaluating them , working on them and ect. What would you consider the most crucial step in that process? I would say that evaluating my work and editting it would be the most important step in my creative process.

Patrick Laughlin's Self Portrait
I made this on my computer using a program called ArtRage 2.5 (its free, go check it out!). I used simulated oil paint to trace over a picture of myself in layers of dots working from large dots to very small ones for the specific details, this resulted in a LOT of clicking with my mouse.
This is a piece i've decided to add onto for another class as well. I feel like this represents me because it looks very similar to me and I intentionally left the left side of my face blank because when I was fifteen years old I had a small stroke on the left side of my body. The title will be "Anxiety", I have an anxiety disorder leftover from my episode when i was fifteen.
Public Art
Education Fountain
This is the fountain is located here on campus next to the education building. I don't really think even this fountain fits in with the building it is next to, the education building is pretty old and rigid looking while this fountain really stands out. It is probably just there to make the education building look less depressing, surrounded by flowers.
JOE'S
This is the sign used on a coffee shop in East Atlanta village "Joe's." The sign definitely fits in with its neighborhood, East Atlanta Village seems a lot like more conservative Little Five Points. I imagine that the owners of the coffee shop wanted a more appealing sign than just something with "Joe's" written across it, so it is affective. IRON HORSE

The Great Outdoors - Natalie
Saud's Outdoor Picture
The Great Outdoors by Morgan
Patrick Laughlin's Photo (Art Team 9: The Great Outdoors)
The Great Outdoors
For this theme and photo I really made it a point to focus on composition. When choosing the great outdoors I wanted to include the colors of fall in the picture. This photo is of some trees on campus that contain some browns, green and bright yellows. I wanted make the brightest yellow tree the focus of my picture so I made sure it was centered. I used a Polaroid One-Step Close Up Camera for this picture not only because I enjoy the way this type of film looks but also because since it is a small square of film it is easier to center and even provides a natural frame to surround the subject in.

Saud's Graffiti
Adedayo Famodun (On the Graffiti Beat)
This work of art was found right here in Carrollton. Am not sure but the building it is painted on might be a bike shop. If you notice the main focus of this graffiti are bikes. All different bike ridden by everyday people going about their business. It sort of depicts the evolution of bicycles and the people of carrollton on these bikes. I definately consider this art done by a folk artist.

Morgan's Graffiti Model
This is a graffiti mural that is located right outside downtown Carrollton. The reason why I chose to pick this particular piece of folk art is because the artist uses really unique and different approaches to spelling out the word. The way it appears is that it is layered on top of another image to give more depth. The contrasting colors makes it pleasurable to look at and overall its a really cool looking piece of art. History Recorded In Art
This painting is about the civil war. The Civil War which took place from 1861 to 1864 was fought between the North (Union) and the South (Confederates). The result of the war is defined in this next piece of historical art.
This painting is about the Emancipation
Proclamation. This very important document that President Lincoln addressed freed the slaves from the Southern States and started the road to gaining civil rights for African Americans.
Sorry it was suppose to post in Red
To see what I have written about this piece of controversial art, Left click the far left side and highlight it all the way down . It is two paragraphs long. Sorry for the hassle
controversial art
In 1999, the city-funded Brooklyn Museum of Art came under fire when it exhibited a Chris Ofili painting of the Virgin Mary that featured sexually explicit cutouts covered with elephant dung. The Catholic Church, as well as New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, were outraged. Giuliani denounced the exhibit as morally offensive and threatened to cut off funding to the museum and terminate its lease if it did not cancel the exhibit that included Ofili’s painting. The city followed through and withheld the museum’s rent payment for October and filed a state lawsuit to get the lease revoked.
As a countermeasure, the museum filed a suit in federal court against the city claiming violations of the first ammendment, and seeking a permanent injunction against the city to keep it from withholding funds. U.S. District Judge Nina Gershon, sided with the museum, and granted them a preliminary injunction. The city was also ordered to resume the museum's funding, and to stop any eviction proceedings.

Controversial Art Part 1
Mr. Doyle of Pennsylvania here is speaking to the House Subcommittee of telecommunications and the internet about the musical "Girl Talk" AKA Greg Gillis.
Greg Gillis is a DJ who has released several albums under the alias of "Girl Talk" where every song on these 13+ track albums are mashups of over a dozen different popular copyrighted songs.
A mashup is when you set the tempo of 2 or more already existing songs and create a different song out of them.
Girl Talk has never been authorized by any of the original creators of the musical pieces he uses and therefore has been described by the New York Times as "a lawsuit waiting to happen."
Girl Talk has also presented his entire latest album on his website for purchase at which the listener can name their own price for (I downloaded it for $0.00).
This is a music video made to Girl Talk's "Here's The Thing" where he samples from 22 artists.
